Our Services

Please find below more information for what services we offer

Home Care Support

At Karen’s Haven, we understand the importance of feeling safe, comfortable, and supported at home—especially when living with COPD or a life-limiting condition. Our home care support service is designed to provide compassionate, personalised assistance in the comfort of your own home. Whether it’s help with emotional support, or coordinating care with health professionals, our team is here to advocate for you and ensure your needs are met with dignity and respect. We also support families and carers, offering guidance and reassurance so no one has to face the journey alone

Peer Support Groups

Peer support groups at Karen’s Haven offer a safe, understanding space for individuals living with life-limiting conditions, as well as for their families and carers. Sharing experiences with others who truly understand can ease feelings of isolation, reduce stress, and provide emotional comfort during challenging times. Whether you’re facing COPD yourself or supporting someone who is, our groups connect you with people on similar journeys—people who can offer empathy, encouragement, and practical advice. Through open conversation and mutual support, no one has to face the challenges of illness or caregiving alone

Education provision

Education provision is vital in supporting individuals with COPD and other life-limiting conditions, as well as in helping to prevent the onset of such illnesses. By promoting healthy lifestyle choices—such as smoking cessation, regular physical activity, and good nutrition—education plays a key role in reducing risk factors that contribute to the development of COPD. For those already living with the condition, education empowers them to manage symptoms, understand treatment options, and make informed decisions about their care. It also provides families and caregivers with the knowledge and tools needed to offer effective support, fostering a more compassionate and proactive approach to long-term health and wellbeing.

Bereavement Support

Bereavement support at Karen’s Haven recognises that grief doesn’t begin only after a loved one passes—it often starts much earlier. Anticipatory grief, which can occur when someone is living with a life-limiting condition like COPD, is a natural and valid response to the gradual changes and losses experienced along the way. We provide a compassionate space for individuals and families to explore these feelings, offering emotional support, guidance, and a listening ear throughout the journey. Whether you are facing the approaching loss of a loved one or navigating life after their passing, our bereavement support is here to help you feel understood, supported, and less alone

Advanced Care Planning

At Karen’s Haven, we understand that planning for the future—especially during a life-limiting illness—can feel overwhelming and emotional. That’s why we’re here to support you through advanced care planning, helping you express your wishes for your care, treatment, and personal matters both before and after you pass away. These conversations are deeply personal and never easy to face alone, but having the right support can bring comfort, clarity, and peace of mind. Whether you’re thinking about the kind of care you want, how you’d like to be remembered, or how to ease the burden on loved ones, we’re here to walk with you every step of the way, with sensitivity, respect, and compassion.
