Emma Liston 

Founder & Director

 

Emma is the visionary founder and director of Karen’s Haven, a sanctuary built in loving memory of her mother, Karen. Inspired by Karen’s unwavering dignity, resilience, and compassion, Emma has dedicated her life to uplifting others with the same values that were instilled in her from a young age.

 

Emma brings over 20 years of experience working in therapeutic settings, supporting individuals affected by substance misuse and complex care. She holds a degree in Health Science and later completed her Nursing degree. Emma is also the founder of Em-Powered Life Mentoring, combining academic knowledge with hands-on expertise to lead with empathy and integrity.

 

Beyond her professional life, Emma is a proud mum of three and Nannie to two beautiful grandchildren. Her dedication to helping others is rooted in both her personal journey and her belief in the power of support and understanding. Through Karen’s Haven, Emma is committed to creating a safe, compassionate space where people can find hope, connection, and care.


Danielle Ogar

Director 

 

Danielle is a cherished Director at Karen’s Haven for COPD, bringing over 20 years of experience in a wide range of caring roles. Her compassion, drive, and gentle strength have made a lasting impact on everyone she works with. Danielle was not only a dedicated caregiver—she was also deeply loved and respected by Karen herself, making her involvement in the organisation especially meaningful.

 

Known for her beautiful soul and heartfelt commitment, Danielle approaches her work with genuine empathy and kindness. She plays a vital role in upholding the values Karen held dear, helping to create a space where individuals and families feel truly seen, supported, and cared for. Her presence continues to inspire and reflect the heart of Karen’s Haven


Martin Cooper

Director 

 

Martin is a Director at Karen’s Haven for COPD, bringing with him over 17 years of experience in social care and a deep commitment to supporting individuals and communities with compassion and integrity. He holds a BSc in Health, an MSc in Health Sciences, and a Diploma in Counselling, which, along with his own values and commitment to helping others reach their potential, has given him a rounded set of skills to deliver best outcomes to clients and service users.

 

Martin is deeply passionate about human rights, social justice, equality of opportunity, and the belief in human potential. His work is driven by a commitment to ensuring that every person is treated with dignity, respect, and fairness—regardless of their background or circumstances. At Karen’s Haven, Martin brings this passion into everything he does, helping to shape a service that is inclusive, empowering, and grounded in genuine care for others.
